High school–the official transition from childhood to early adolescence. Freshman year can seem very intimidating, especially for people who don’t know what they’re doing. However, with the right advice, you can make the first year of high school your best. To start off, there are the basics; do your homework and study for tests and quizzes. Some people may overlook these simple tips, but they have proven to help more than hurt.

“A struggle I commonly faced was getting lost, and I was not prepared for the amount of homework,” shared Hailey Gagnon, sophomore. She believes that staying focused in class and taking good notes can really improve your grades. Getting lost in an unfamiliar school is also something many freshman dread. “Some advice I would give to freshman would be to calm down. You will find your way. You will be okay,” said freshman Kalin Crowe. It is ok to feel stressed out on you first few weeks of high school. Hundreds of other freshman feel this way because they are in a new school, but after getting used to your new surroundings, finding your way around will become easy.

Above everything else, don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and make some new friends, and always remember to just be yourself and enjoy the greatest four years of your life.
