Shepard held the first blood drive of the 2016-2017 school year on Thursday, September 8th. Many students showed up to donate for many different reasons.

“I donate because I save lives, and get a free shirt,” said senior Richard Howard. Anyone who donates receives a free shirt, a snack, and a drink. The “Bloodmobiles” look just like a normal hospital room, equipped with four beds, and two screening rooms.

The phlebotomists had many reasons to start working at Shepard. “I originally wanted to become a nurse, but when that fell through I decided to become a phlebotomist so I could still save lives,” said Katrina Smith-Harris.
