img_9281In the cold, fall weather, families gather and sit down at the dinner table. Many eat a delicious turkey or a plate of deviled eggs, but that’s not always the case.

Freshman Michael Mata and Kira Ladson travel for their Thanksgiving traditions. “Usually we would either stay at home or go to Alabama to have a mini family reunion, but this year we are actually traveling to Minnesota to visit my brother’s family,” said Freshman, Michael Mata. Kira Ladson doesn’t travel that far. “We usually go to Winston Salem, North Carolina,” said Kira.

Teacher Mrs. Davis, Freshman Kira Ladson, and Freshman Michael Mata all celebrate Thanksgiving differently. “My family usually all eats lunch together on Thanksgiving. When I was growing up, I always got up and watched the Macy’s Parade while my mom made lunch. After lunch, all of the other ladies in my family plan our black Friday shopping.” Said Mrs. Davis. Kira Ladson said her family, “Stands in a circle and say what we are grateful for that year, whatever it may be.” Michael Mata’s traditions include, “Visiting family and eating wonderful food.”
