Friday, March 30, the earth experiences Spring Equinox. The first day of spring doesn’t only mean the joy of one step closer to summer, but also when nature awakes from a temporary nap. Springtime is the planters harmony. “I spent the past few weekends gardening with my mom (flowers and vegetables). People don’t understand how much time and energy is put into planting because they forget plants are living as well.  It’s so amazing seeing something you created grow into something beautiful. Planting is my mom’s stress reliever,” stated Sophomore Selina Seard. Planting is an amazing pastime hobby for anyone, especially teens. Some personal advantages of planting include: knowledge, hand strength and dexterity, self relief, reduces the risk of strokes, cuts, and heart attacks by up to 30%,  dementia up to 36%, and Alzheimer up to 42%, it also helps immune regulation.

Planting also benefits the community. Keeping communities healthy and pretty affects overall moods and can make people have a better day. The nutrients plants provide are essential for all living creatures. Junior Lauren Carter explains, “I love smelling fresh flowers walking through my neighborhood. Nature in general makes me happy. However, pollen can be quite annoying but being able to see all the pretty flowers, birds, and butterflies is worth the allergy struggle.”
