Homecoming is always an exciting time on Greenbrier’s campus where a variety of festivities take place, but one of the most entertaining parts of the week is the hallway decorating contest and the dress up days.   This year, the dress up days began with Role Reversal Tuesday, which resulted in many students dressing up as their favorite teachers and several teachers dressing in scrubs to imitate those students who can’t seem to follow dress code.  Thursday was Squad Day, where it was easy to locate all the bffs in the school by their matching outfits. Teachers got in on the fun by wearing matching outfits as well or by choosing fun themes. The teachers on the math hall all dressed as “math nerds,” while the science teachers appeared as “mad scientist”.  Wednesday was hallway day. Each class was assigned a theme; the freshman theme was “safari”, the sophomores had a football theme, the juniors had a superhero & villain theme, while seniors won the hallway competition with their haunted hallway theme, which depicted such terrifying images as “monster” teachers and failing test grades.  The week ended on Friday with a spirit and pink out day, where students dressed in green, gold, and pink attire to honor the school and to show support for breast cancer awareness month.

Many students look forward to this week as a time to celebrate with their friends,  “I wore a costume on squad day, hallway day, and pink day.” Freshman Abbie Best says,”I like spirit week. It’s just  fun  and it’s things that you can do with your friends.” Others enjoy the opportunity to show their pack pride. Sophomore Hunter Harper said, “My favorite part about spirit week is that everyone dresses up and shows school spirit.  I did it because I wanted to show how much I like my school.”
