Here at Greenbrier High School, there is a special community service group. Many students and teachers do not know about the Chick-fil-A leaders, but these students are all around the school, giving back to the community.

“I volunteer here at Greenbrier and pretty much everywhere,” member Ashley Benjamin says.  “I joined the Academy because it will look really good on my resume and it will teach me to be a better leader.”

These students can be found giving back by making meals, cleaning, and volunteering. Most recently these students assisted the janitorial staff by volunteering after school to help them with their many responsibilities and they also recognized the front office staff by awarding them all Chic-fil-a gift cards as a way to express appreciation for all they do. The leaders’ director, Mr. Jones, helps lead and organize them along with a representative from Chick-fil-a.

“I am currently the director of the Student Government Association,” says Mr. Jones.  “Our principal, Mr. Segraves, felt it would be a good idea to correlate the SGA with the leader academy.  Any opportunity to serve our community and help students develop into stronger leaders is something I enjoy supporting.”

Anyone willing to give their time and work for the community can join and serve to be a part of the leader academy. The group meets once a month for their leadership development labs and to decide what they want to do next. For more information, drop by Mr. Jones’ classroom, number 418 in the Language Hall.

Comment below on how you feel about these student and what they do to give to the community.
